On December 14, 2023, the Texas Education Agency released a To The Administrator Addressed with updated guidance on the sharing of disciplinary and threat assessment records when a student transfers districts. The Resources section of this communication includes a guidance video to assist campus and district staff who work directly with PEIMS and TREx. The video is also available below.

As required by Texas Education Code §37.115(k), Safe and Supportive School Program (SSSP) teams are required to report their annual activities by campus to the Texas Education Agency (TEA). For additional information about the reporting requirements established by the TEA, please refer to the document linked below.
The Texas School Safety Center, in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency, have created a guidance checklist for sharing school behavioral threat assessment documentation with the receiving district the threat assessed student is transferring to.
Also, The Texas School Safety Center, in collaboration with TASB, have created a FAQs document answering some of the most common questions asked by districts and open-enrollment charter schools regarding school behavioral threat assessment processes and policies.

As required by the 86th Texas Legislature and SB 11, the Texas School Safety Center, in coordination with the Texas Education Agency, has developed model policies and procedures to assist school districts in establishing and training threat assessment teams now mandated by TEC Sec. 37.220.
