Safety and Security Agreements Toolkit
2.0 Selecting the Type of Agreement
Formalizing an agreement is imperative. Handshake agreements may be forgotten. The original parties to the oral agreement may not be in the district or agency when the need arises. The type of agreement selected depends on a number of variables including the relationship between the parties, the nature of the resources to be provided, and the degree of detail needed to efficiently activate and deliver the assistance. Neighboring districts who may be supporting each other with resources and services may execute mutual aid agreements. When the services of a private business may be required, a contract is needed. The basic types of agreements are summarized and compared over this section's following pages. Preview the samples and templates below.
