This section provides information and links from multiple agencies to training not only directly connected to the online course but also additional suggested training. Unless stated otherwise, all training is free for school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and public junior colleges to attend. These trainings can enhance your skills and knowledge of school safety.

Trainings for Hazardous Materials Annex Development

Hazardous Materials Awareness-Distance Learning (FEMA)

This course provides training to proficiency in identifying hazards, utilizing the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) to identify hazardous materials, risks, and protective actions utilizing hazard communication documents and determining awareness-level, personal, and public protective actions.

IS-5: An Introduction to Hazardous Materials (FEMA)

This Independent Study course is intended to provide a general introduction to hazardous materials that can serve as a foundation for more specific studies in the future. The course covers Health and Environmental Regulations, Hazardous Materials Identification Systems, Identifying Hazardous Materials, Hazardous Materials and Human Health, and Preparing for Hazardous Materials Incidents.

Standard Response Protocol Train-the-Trainer Training (“I Love U Guys” Foundation)

This course will provide participants with action-based, flexible, and rationally organized tactics to respond to events, accidents, intruders, and other threats to safety. This training also covers mandated drills for Texas schools.

Standard Reunification Method Train-The-Trainer Training (“I Love U Guys” Foundation)

This course will provide participants with proven methods for planning, practicing, and achieving reunification of students with their parents or guardians in the event of a school emergency.
