TCOLE #4064 Course

TCOLE #4064 Course

The Texas School Safety Center School-Based Law Enforcement training division will host 40, TCOLE #4064, 20-hour, two-day trainings to help school districts comply with recent legislative changes. SB 11 (OC Sec 1701.263 b) requires a district employing a peace/resource officer to create a policy requiring officers to complete education and training before or within 180 days of placement (the 30,000-enrollment minimum no longer applies).

Two sections of the course will be offered in each Education Service region. Courses will begin in October 2019 and continue through April. We have updated course materials to ensure that participants receive the most current information available. Topics will include:

  • Child and Adolescent Development and Psychology;
  • Mental Health Crisis Intervention and Cultural Competency;
  • De-escalation Techniques and Techniques for Limiting the Use of Force, including the use of physical, mechanical, and chemical restraints;
  • Mental and Behavioral Health Needs of Children with Disabilities or Special Needs;
  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and supports, conflict resolution techniques, and restorative justice techniques

PLEASE NOTE: TCOLE #41501 also meets the education and training requirements of SB11. Officers who have taken #41501 do not need to take TCOLE #4064. Sections of TCOLE #41501 will be offered in the summer of 2020.

*Must attend entire training to be eligible to receive 20 hours TCOLE Credit.
