Senate Bill 294
Effective Date: Immediately
Relating to medication designated for treatment of respiratory distress on public and private school campuses, as well as institutions of higher education. Specifically:

Schools may adopt and implement a policy regarding medication for respiratory distress; refer to the following
Sections of this Bill:
- Section 2: Definition of “Medication for Respiratory Distress;”
- Section 6: Maintenance and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors, and Medication for Respiratory Distress;
- Section 7: Report on Administering Medication for Respiratory Distress;
- Section 8: Training;
- Section 10: Prescription of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors and Medication for Respiratory Distress;
- Section 11: Notice to Parents; and
- Section 12: Immunity from Liability.

Training required for each school district, open-enrollment charter school, and private school that adopts a
policy; refer to the following Sections of this Bill:
- Section 2: Definition of “medication for respiratory distress,”
- Section 4: Advisory Committee Duties, and
- Section 8: Training.

Notification of parents to schools and schools to parents; refer to the following Sections of this Bill:
- Section 2: Definition of “medication for respiratory distress,”
- Section 6: Maintenance and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors, and Medication for Respiratory Distress;
- Section 11: Notice to Parents; and
- Section 12: Immunity from Liability.
Open-enrollment charter schools should review the following Sections of this Bill:
- Section 2: Definition of “Medication for Respiratory Distress;”
- Section 4: Advisory Committee Duties;
- Section 6: Maintenance and Administration of Epinephrine Auto-Injectors, and Medication for Respiratory Distress;
