Why This Training Matters

Educator maltreatment is a growing concern in Texas and across the nation. When educators experience verbal attacks, threats, harassment, or physical aggression, the effects extend beyond employee morale as they impact school safety, staff retention, and the overall learning environment.

The Mitigating Educator Maltreatment training equips school administrators with practical strategies to prevent incidents, respond effectively, and foster a safer, more supportive school climate.

This 4-hour virtual training provides administrators with practical, evidence-based strategies to prevent, respond to, and support incidents of educator maltreatment. Participants will leave with actionable guidance they can immediately implement on their campuses.

What You'll Gain

Through real-world scenarios and TxSSC-developed exemplars, participants will gain practical strategies and tools they can apply on their campuses.

Participants will learn to:

  1. Understand educator maltreatment and how it affects individuals, schools, and communities.
  2. Identify and use effective prevention strategies to reduce educator maltreatment.
  3. Create and execute comprehensive intervention plans to handle cases of educator maltreatment.
  4. Learn how to support educators who have experienced maltreatment and create a welcoming environment for returning students.
  5. Promote a culture of safety, respect, and empathy within the school community.

Please Note: This training is open to public ISDs, open-enrollment charter schools, junior colleges, law enforcement, and state agencies that support Texas schools. Vendors and contractors are not permitted to register for this training.

Not eligible for TCOLE training credit.

Upon completion of the training, attendees will have the opportunity to receive a personalized campus report about educator perspectives on educator maltreatment. More details will be provided during the training.

All virtual trainings will be provided through the Zoom platform. Once you are registered and confirmed, a direct Zoom link will be sent to you 1–2 business days prior to the training date. TxSSC prohibits the use of AI notetakers during live virtual trainings.

In order to receive a Certificate of Participation, participants must attend the entire training on their own individual device.
