Virtual Training

The Texas School Safety Center, in partnership with Safe and Sound Schools is hosting Especially Safe: An Inclusive Approach to Safety Preparedness in Education Settings virtual trainings. Through inclusive planning, we can create a culture of safety and security for our children, students, parents, and staff to depend on in emergencies of all kinds.

Join Safe and Sound Schools for a workshop led by Co-founder and Executive Director Michele Gay. This training will explore Safe and Sound’s newest program, Especially Safe: An Inclusive Approach to School Safety. Developed with expert practitioners from across the disciplines, this program includes resources, tools, and teaching ideas to meet the safety needs of community members with special needs.

This workshop will cover:

  • An overview of the Especially Safe Planning & Preparation Guide and Teaching & Training Guide
  • How to use the TEAMS framework to operationalize your safety planning and preparation for individuals with special needs
  • Practical activities for increasing empowerment and building a positive culture of safety within your school community

Please Note: This training is open to public ISDs, open-enrollment charter schools, junior colleges, school-based law enforcement, and state agencies that support Texas schools. Due to limited space, vendors and contractors are not permitted to register for this training.

Not eligible for TCOLE training credit.

All virtual trainings will be provided through the Zoom online meeting platform.
To pre-install the Zoom meeting software click the "Download" button under Zoom Workplace desktop app or click the following link to watch a video tutorial on Joining a Zoom Meeting. Once you are registered and confirmed, a direct Zoom link will be sent to you 1-2 days prior to the training date.

In order to receive a Certificate of Participation, participants must attend entire training on their own individual device.
