7.3 Downloading (Saving) Videos

To download videos to a computer from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or other platforms it is necessary to use a website or app that provides this capability. Download the video in HD if given the option. It is best practice to also screenshot the entire page and save it in addition to the video download. This provides a record of what the video page looked like when it was found before the video file was saved.

Please note that these techniques will only work with public video links. If the account is private, these video grabbers will not work. While the websites below are currently working and available, they could be taken down at any time.

Downloading a video from Facebook Using FBDOWN.net:

  1. Find the video you wish to download and copy the URL at the top of the page.
  2. Go to the website https://fbdown.net/, paste the URL and click Download.
  3. Select Download video in HD Quality.
  4. The video will then open in a separate window. Click on the 3 dots in the bottom right hand corner and select Download. It will then save the .mp4 file to your computer.

Similar websites are available that will enable you to download videos from Instagram, YouTube, and other social media platforms.

*Please note: These free websites often contain ads. You should not download software or click on any ads or pop up windows when visiting this type of website.
