2.4 Instagram Live
Instagram Live allows users to stream on their Instagram profile in real time. During these “Lives,” other people may interact with the streaming user by writing to them in the comment section, and the person who is “Live” can answer questions being asked or react to comments in real time. Anyone who is viewing the “Live” can see other user’s comments.
Sexual comments and “trolling” (people who intentionally write hurtful messages to get a reaction) often take place during IG Lives. As of June 2017, Instagram Live video replays can be shared on Instagram Stories for up to 24 hours after they originally aired. In September of 2018, Instagram launched IGTV which allows people to upload longer, edited videos to their Instagram account. If a profile is public, anyone is able to watch these videos, but there is no comment feature on IGTV.
